Bright red water discovered in 1911 in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of East Antarctica, pouring onto the frozen surface of Lake Bonney.

This is an actual red river coming from the so-called “Blood Falls” in Antarctica, made red from 3x saltwater with iron-oxidized deposits in the Taylor Glacier.

This was released from a subglacial lake previously trapped under the ice for 1.5 million years.

The Pilgrimage Church of St. Bartholomew in Schönau am Königssee which sit at the foot of the eastern wall of Mount Watzmann in the Berchtesgaden National Park in Bavaria.

It’s… big. And the water is crystal clear, and it’s utterly silent.

#PlacesOfInterest: This is one of the quietest, most peaceful places on Earth.

You can only really get there by boat that goes through a part of the Alps that are almost fully vertical, and drops straight into the lake.

There are also vey interesting salt mines nearby.

The Duomo of Florence reflected in pools of rainwater on the paving stones in the square, and the shadow of the copy of Michelangelo’s David on the stone wall behind it.

Minami cherry blossoms herald the coming spring in Japan.

Both sides of the Aono River (which flows through the middle of Shimogama Onsen), are decorated with the petals of these early-blooming sakura. This area is one of the earliest places in Japan to enjoy hanami.
