An electric highway department sign up the street from them is showing the words, "On I29 Expect Delays." That's got nothing to do with them. It's about some construction on the interstate. At the horizon, one side of a tractor/trailer is showing at the entrance ramp for the interstate.
Similar demonstrations 25 or 30 miles south of here draw more demonstrators and typically receive a warm reception from the traffic: horn honking and occasional shouts of "Fuck Trump" or "Stand up for [insert the name of any of the dozens of constituencies he's attacked since returning to office]."
Here, there's less honking of agreement, but one or two cars in each batch released from traffic lights get a honk on. Every other release of cars unleashes a positive shout, or two.
And in every third or fourth batch of cars, there's a loud-engine acceleration or peel out, and maybe half of those are intended as derogatory; but automotive testicle compensation is part of the local culture here.
Over the course of the two-hour demonstration, two overpowered and overshined pickups boast large Trump flags and bellicose drivers and passengers. One parks in an adjacent gas station and its occupants do some bird-flipping and "fuck you" calling. They're noticed, barely, then forgotten.
The point is: These people showed up. A lot of people whose televisions told them the night before that only a few woke immigrant criminal liberal America-hating victims of Trump derangement syndrome oppose this administration's fascist ambitions saw that that Is Not The Case.

A couple dozen or so people showed up for the rally. #PlatteCity is a ruby red part of a very red state, #Missouri, about 25 miles north of #KansasCity. The most visible part of it is a cluster of gas stations, fast food restaurants, a grocery and a pharmacy at an I-29 exit.
