I finally came up with the title for a poem I wanna write. But now, I don’t know how I wanna write it 😭 #poetproblems #writersblock

A cinematic, close-up shot of a rustic wooden writing desk overlooking a misty Wharfe Valley. An ink pen rests on a manuscript where the word 'ORANGE' is aggressively circled in red. A soft, warm lamp glows in the foreground, contrasting with the cold, ethereal blue mist rolling over the distant heather-covered hills outside the window.

People think poets spend all day gazing wistfully at horizons. In reality, I spend 40% of my time gazing, and 60% of my time trying to find a rhyme for "Orange" that isn't "Door-hinge." (It didn't make it into the book).

A whimsical, surrealist digital painting of an open vintage thesaurus sitting on a wooden table. Hundreds of golden, glowing letters are physically spilling out of the pages like a waterfall, cluttering the desk, while a rainy North Yorkshire moor is visible through a soft-focus window in the background. The lighting is ethereal and cool-toned, emphasizing the chaotic beauty of a writer's struggle.

Writing poetry is 10% inspiration, 90% staring at a wall trying to find a rhyme for "orange" or "silver" before giving up and changing the entire stanza.
Who else in the #WritingCommunity is fighting the thesaurus today?

Got a rejection for a series of poems about chronic pain. They said it was too much pain. Perhaps a narrator could monologue about something else.

That's literally the gaslighting that people who live with pain face IRL, which is in one of the poems. Huge face-palm moment.

The faceplate in a spiral bound Traveler's Notebook. The notebook is inside a brown leather case. The faceplate has been decorated with a postcard with an illustration of a hammock chair surrounded by plants in front of an open window surrounded by plants. Plus stickers of plants and cacti.

I know some writers say they hate facing a blank page but I think there's nothing better than starting a new notebook.
All that potential 😍

Sometimes, as a poet, I struggle to put a feeling or experience into words cause there is a song lyric that already captures it for me perfectly. How can I spin those lines in my voice when someone already said it for me?

You know what’s a fun feeling?
Changing my mind about every single poem in the book I’ve been working on since the end of 2022.
Guess I’m just gonna… ditch the entire manuscript and start from scratch…?

resisting the urge to use grammar and line breaks to infuse a poem with every single meaning that could possibly be pulled out of the language… since I don’t actually meannnn any of those thinnnngs. 😂🤦‍♀️

First new poem from me in quite some time (begun almost a fortnight ago), and already I'm questioning my unintended slant rhyme of 'Kop' with 'not'. #poetproblems
