太平洋鼠鯊生活於北太平洋，皮膚為暗灰色或黑色，成年太平洋鼠鯊腹部具有暗色斑點，幼鯊則無

屬於內溫鯊魚，透過血管的逆流熱交換來維持體溫，這種能力讓太平洋鼠鯊能生活在寒冷的水域

太平洋鼠鯊主要以鮭魚、魷魚、銀鱈為食，因為其偏好吃鮭魚，所以又名「鮭鯊」，卵胎生，雌鯊大約8～10歲性成熟，雄鯊則為5歲，妊娠期為9個月，一次產下約2～5胎

太平洋鼠鯊不屬於經濟魚類，但是在阿拉斯加屬於知名的游釣魚種，而美國政府有規定每年只能捕兩條鼠鯊
