The Old Oak, Headingley (the Shire Oak). The tree was felled in 1941 and part of it was carved by Mouseman Robert Thompson into 'Madonna & Child'. The Skyrack Inn survives. The postcard was sent in 1912 to Worcester.

These and three others are the only art work that has survived. I wonder if he just gave up after the war.
These are two sketches of several that my husband’s grandad did and sent in postcard form from the front. You will see he says he could have done better with watercolours! They look great to me!
