Cigarette Burns (Viewtiful Joe) Edward Norton: He had a part-time job as a projectionist. See, a movie doesn't come on one big reel. It comes in a few. So someone has to switch projectors at the exact moment one reel ends and the next begins. If you look for it, you can see two little white dots come into the right hand corner of the screen. In the industry, we call them cigarette burns. That's the cue. They switch projectors, the movie keeps going, no one in the audience has any idea. Why would anyone want this shit job? Because it affords you interesting opportunities. Like splicing single frames of pornography into family films. Nobody knows they saw it. But they did. Viewtiful Joe: Not unless have the Slow-Mo power like me, hahahaha!

A red, metal knob from a Century projector with the word SHUTTER engraved on it in white letters.
A relic from my #projectionist days: This is from a Century projector & was used for adjusting the shutter timing to optimize image quality on screen during projection. These projectors had similar red knobs of varying sizes for adjusting focus and framing.
