This glistening #Pterostylis sargentii was enjoying life under this Sheoak! Commonly called the frog Greenhood I can kinda se why! Has lil frogs legs behind. If only my camera could capture the sparkling perianth it was almost unreal
Greenhood orchids in Lysterfield park, VIC - let your eyes adjust and after you see the first couple you will see hundreds along the trails and wonder how you missed them all these years.

Flowers that work as a light trap! Pterostylis are masters of using light and in some case scent to achieve pollination, #Pterostylis barbata is a great examples of this! With the pollinia at the top of the flower they use light to fool their pollinator to travel further up to the pollinia!

Known as the Darling Ranges Banded Greenhood, it would fit the name being in John forest. When I saw this one I was thinking it had much larger flowers than ones I have seen before
#Orchid time! This time of year many Pterostylis begin to pop up! This one is a very common species to come across #Pterostylis sanguinea, the lighting was perfect to show of the light windows of the flowers that are used to direct the Gnat that pollinated this species to the pollenia!
