Home made quilt with red, white, blue color scheme. The center is a eagle and flag theme. This was modified from a pattern by Jennifer Armentrout, "Stripes in Motion" Threaded Lines Quilt Shop on Etsy. I changed it quite a bit to fit the QOV requirements, and the center panel.

This #QuiltOfValor is finally completed. I gave it its first wash today, to remove starch, freshen the colors, and shrink slightly for texture. It will be presented to a veteran with history of honorable service. #QOV #MenWhoQuilt #QuiltSky

Quilt top in shades of patriotic colors, with eagle-themed panel. When the quilting is completed, this will be awarded to a veteran, by the Quilts of Valor program.

Completed Eagle panel #QuiltOfValor. The group coordinator was complimentary. Next it goes to long-armer to quilt, then I will bind. I hope a veteran will like.

My next will be a more "soothing" design. I had issues with accuracy, and ordered a specialty ruler. #QOV #MenWhoQuilt #Quiltsky

Panel quilt I'm sewing for the quilts of valor program that gives away quilts to honor veterans. The "white" stripes are actually a pale cream. I modified the pattern from "Stripes in Motion" pattern from threadedlines.com from Etsy. I still need to sew on the sides and corners, plus a navy blue border. The purchased pattern had an additional stripes and stars border, but the size would not work for this panel. I think it's better to stop here anyway.

Description: Quilt with sawtooth star corners, and striped sides, in patriotic colors, surrounding an eagle motif.

Almost final layout for this #QuiltOfValor. Pattern info & source in alt txt. The color theme was difficult to match the panel. I made many changes to the pattern, for this panel & #QOV preferences. In the end I think it works. Need to attach sides, corners, borders. #MenWhoQuilt #Quiltsky

Quilt top, pieced together but not quilted yet. On-point Ohio Star blocks in red, blue, and cream - based color patterns. It needs trimming before I add a border.

Test run for Seminole border. I think it's doable ๐Ÿ˜. Assuming I have enough of these fabrics. There might be enough for Seminole border plus the binding. I'm not certain.

#Quilting Update. #1. #QuiltofValor top is completed, yay! But I think I'll add a border before quilting it. I didn't know how hard those on-point blocks would be to get right ๐Ÿคช. #2. I finished all of the Ohio Stars for the summer quilt. Now starting Seminole border. #quiltsky #MenWhoQuilt

Quilt blocks ready for assembly for Quilt of Valor donation. Red Blue and cream stars on similar backgrounds, Ohio star blocks in alternating red blue and cream. Several of the fabric patterns contain stars as well. I may rearrange a couple of blocks.

Here's the #QuiltofValor project so far. Now I can sew together the entire quilt top. I don't think it will need a border, but I will measure once the seam allowances are there. All on point, and my brain objects to math these days. #quiltsky #menwhoquilt #armyveteran #quilting

Blue fabric soaking in water with a little dish detergent, to leach out blue dye that might stain other fabrics in the quilt. I don't know if necessary, but I want to be careful. I'll do the same for the red fabrics.

After soaking (three changes of cold water) , I squeeze (not wring) excess water, then soak the fabrics in a home made corn starch solution before pressing out excess starch solution and allowing to dry on a towel.

I decided to pre-soak some deep blue fabrics before starching them. I don't know if necessary. A lot of blue came out. These will go into my first quilt of valor. There will be reds, also pre-soaked, & creams. Three of each. #quiltofvalor #quilting #menwhoquilt #veterans #quiltstar
