Client’s quilt is finished and trimmed. Now off back to its owner for some binding and love.

I have a customer’s quilt on the long arm getting done while I finish up on my behind Irish Knot Quilt.

LeMoyne star quilt block in multiple colors.
Pieces to assemble into LeMoyne star quilt block
My first attempt at a LeMoyne star for the quilt I'm making. I'm not all that pleased. I wonder id I should be pressing with dry iron instead of steam iron. I think things are shrinking. I don't have extra of some of the fabrics, so not sure what to do next. #MenWhoQuilt #QuiltSky #quilting
Colorful batik diamonds for LeMoyne star quilt blocks,
How I cut the diamonds. I use 2.5 inch strips, either ones I cut or from strip sets such as jelly rolls. A small 45 degree diamond template helps. I don't buy strip sets any more but I have some from older purchases. The muted colors are for stars that will be more in background.
Diamonds for LeMoyne stars that will be along the sides of the quilt. I'm using muted colors to let the main stars attract more attention.
Made more pieces of the star quilt. I cut more diamonds for the Lemoine stars, replacing some of the muddier colors with brighter ones.
I made more half square triangles. About 50 more to go, of the needed 288. Side stars will be muted colors. Also cut those.

Quilt with stars made by half square triangles and diamonds. Made with men's cotton shirts in shades of grey, red, and white.
I made one using the same pattern during the pandemic isolation, using men's cotton shirts, shades of red, grey, & white. I like it, but want to make a brighter, more colorful modern one. Here's the one I made back then. The pattern was from Today's Quilter Magazine. #MenWhoQuilt #Quiltsky
Half square triangles, 2 1/2" square, in various colors, with approximate calculations for number needed.
Color side of fabric for 12-at-a-time method for 1/2 square triangles. There is some extra fabric to trim to square them up after cutting.
Reverse side after cutting half square triangles apart, 12-at-a-time method. I find it helps if the fabric is well starched.
Batik diamonds for quilt. Various colors. I think some are too muddy looking or not bright enough, so I will try other colors too.
Starting a new quilt. This will be multicolor batik, neutral cream background. Calls for 288 HSTs. Some individually made from scraps, some 12-at-a-time method. 1/2-way there. Also lots of diamonds, mostly cut already. Might make some brighter diamonds. #MenWhoQuilt #quilting #quiltsky
Home made quilt with red, white, blue color scheme. The center is a eagle and flag theme. This was modified from a pattern by Jennifer Armentrout, "Stripes in Motion" Threaded Lines Quilt Shop on Etsy. I changed it quite a bit to fit the QOV requirements, and the center panel.
This #QuiltOfValor is finally completed. I gave it its first wash today, to remove starch, freshen the colors, and shrink slightly for texture. It will be presented to a veteran with history of honorable service. #QOV #MenWhoQuilt #QuiltSky
Quilted wall hanging in red, gold, black, cream. The printed panel contains treasured Japanese flowers, chrysanthemums, peonies, morning glories. In the distance are Mt. Fuji and temples.
Banner in red, black, gold with Chinese writing.
Completed and mounted. Made for lunar new year, but I was late. The colors reflect the banner across the corner. The floral part is a printed panel. #MenWhoQuilt #quilting #quiltsky
A quilt top composed of 110 squares in eleven rows and ten columns. The squares are alternating dark, black-looking fabric either as the frame for a smaller central square in various shades of pink, maroon, and purple or as the the smaller square in the other colors.. At the bottom of the image you can see part of my sloth socks where I'm standing on a chair to take the image with my phone.
A closeup of the quilt top showing the piecing better and revealing that the dark fabric is actually black with lines of tan making a plaidish pattern in it.
Here's the quilt top I pieced on my computerized Janome machine and then assembled with my new vintage Singer. All thrifted fabric. I want to back it with dark fabric close to the blackish one on the top. No luck so far as the search continues. I may just […]

Quilt top for wall hanging. Japanese theme gold, black, red, white fabric with flowers. Border is pieced. Next, it needs quilting and binding.
I saw an example of this wall-hanging at Craft Warehouse. decided to make one as a Chinese New Year gift. Mostly just making the borders for the central panel. Now to quilt it. Thinking about a metallic (gold) thread, not sure if that will work. A little late. #MenWhoQuilt #QuiltSky
So it’s not a quilt but it is a finished top. It will be quilted up tomorrow and packed away for next year.

Ugh! I sewed four rows out of order. Time for Jack the Ripper and a missed personal deadline.

Assembly is under way. Let’s see if I can bet the clock and be finished by Valentine’s Day. My husband informed me that Feb 15th the house gets flipped to St Patrick’s.
#MenWhoQuilt #Quilting #Quilter
All the A and B blocks are now complete. I feels that’s good enough for a stopping point today.

Quilt top in shades of patriotic colors, with eagle-themed panel. When the quilting is completed, this will be awarded to a veteran, by the Quilts of Valor program.
Completed Eagle panel #QuiltOfValor. The group coordinator was complimentary. Next it goes to long-armer to quilt, then I will bind. I hope a veteran will like.
My next will be a more "soothing" design. I had issues with accuracy, and ordered a specialty ruler. #QOV #MenWhoQuilt #Quiltsky
Stopping point for now so I can go to dinner with the husband. Half completed centers for the A blocks. Using the partial seam method, which I’m fond of.
#MenWhoQuilt #Quilting #Quilter
All components completed and ready for assembly into fifteen A blocks and fifteen B blocks.

Panel quilt I'm sewing for the quilts of valor program that gives away quilts to honor veterans. The "white" stripes are actually a pale cream. I modified the pattern from "Stripes in Motion" pattern from threadedlines.com from Etsy. I still need to sew on the sides and corners, plus a navy blue border. The purchased pattern had an additional stripes and stars border, but the size would not work for this panel. I think it's better to stop here anyway. Description: Quilt with sawtooth star corners, and striped sides, in patriotic colors, surrounding an eagle motif.
Almost final layout for this #QuiltOfValor. Pattern info & source in alt txt. The color theme was difficult to match the panel. I made many changes to the pattern, for this panel & #QOV preferences. In the end I think it works. Need to attach sides, corners, borders. #MenWhoQuilt #Quiltsky
After a few life hurdles and distractions I’m back at finishing this Valentine’s quilt. Always take into account nesting your seam while pressing.
#MenWhoQuilt #Quilting #Quilter
Top portion of quilt, under construction. There are sawtooth stars and arrow motifs, in dark red, off white, and two shades of blue. I still need to make the sides.
I assembled the top portion of the #QOV panel quilt. Not all sewn together yet. I wanted to see how it will look. Many misadventures. I remade most of the flying geese. The four-at-a-time method was too wonky and difficult. I feel like this part looks pretty good. #MenWhoQuilt #Quiltsky
Red, white, and blue sawtooth star quilt blocks for a panel - based Quilt of Valor.
Sawtooth Star blocks for a panel-based quilt of valor. I've been procrastinating - dimensions didn't work out & the panel isn't one would want for myself. But it's not about me. The flying geese were "4 at a time" method. A lot came out wonky, I threw those away. #MenWhoQuilt #Quiltsky
Small 9-Patch quilt blocks in navy blue and white, and quarter square triangles in red and white.
Completed small quilt blocks for Irish chain / Star quilt. The small 9 patches are done. Next they need to be combined with some sashing and blue squares to make larger blocks. The Quarter Square Triangles are sewn, need pressing and trimming. Then make into stars. #MenWhoQuilt #Quiltsky #QOV
150 down, 150 to go.

Small blue and cream 9-patch quilt squares for Irish chain quilt. Red and cream half-square triangles for the stars. Those will be quarter square triangles for star points.
I use the two-at-a-time method for half square triangles. The bias seam is sewn before cutting, avoiding deformations from stretching. I iron to the dark side so they will nest for the quarter square triangles.
These are the blue and cream strips assembled into small nine- patches to make the Irish chains.
The Irish Chains start as long strips, sewn together as Blue-cream- blue or cream- blue-cream. The blue fabric is a "vintage" map reproduction in navy blue with old-gold markings.
Starting Irish chain/star quilt for #QOV program. Yesterday I made the blue strips for the Irish chain. Today I cut them up, assembled ~1/3 into small 9-patches. The red stars start as HSTs that will be QSTs next. Pattern adapted from Today's Quilter #136 #MenWhoQuilt #Quilting #Quiltsky
