A symmetrical perspective of the wooden platform roof at Aki-Nakano Station, Hiroshima. The intricate wooden trusses lead the eye toward a white metal security fence on the platform, set against a crisp blue sky. The harsh sunlight creates sharp shadows of the columns on the asphalt.

Walking in the Erewash valley today with the aim of visiting Bennerley Viaduct.

The viaduct was built in the late 1870s by the Great Northern Railway to carry the Friargate line from Derby to Nottingham. It is the longest Victorian wrought iron viaduct in the country.

Black and white photograph of a train shed of a large railway station. It is wrought iron and glass, with transepts.

Would it be too much of a clue to say it was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and Matthew Digby Wyatt?

More interwar #RailwayArchitecture at the next station along from Leigh-on-Sea, Chalkwell, also of 1933. Lovely brickwork on the lift tower, and smart benches in the waiting rooms. (It also has a most fabulous gents loo with original fixtures and decorative scheme.)

Interwar #RailwayArchitecture and design at Leigh-on-Sea station of 1933 (per rainwater hoppers). Clock is not an original feature, but brickwork detailing is. Waiting room is restored but benches are similar to those at Chalkwell so I assume original or good reproductions.
