Inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s car harness escape on Monday, our usually well-behaved Bouvier Winnie escaped from her new collar and happily greeted people (who patted her) and cars (that screeched to a halt) before she was put back on an adjusted collar.

The lawn is finally dry enough to let the Bouvier pups do best friend things.

They live for such a short time, I try to give them every moment of joy.

Winnie’s healed well enough from her surgery to have backyard play for the first time in weeks.

But. it wasn’t an abscess. It was a low grade cancer. Unlikely to spread but she’s a baby. Only 2. (with long ears) I’m sticking to optimism but worry now sits at the back of my heart.

Santa Paws - a white bearded Bouvier who travels the world delivering Christmas stuffies - is late in delivering the pup’s presents.

Audrey Hepburn had to be dissuaded from opening all the presents, to find her coveted stuffie.

I bought a post-surgery outfit that:

Barely fits our 100 pound Winnie
Is now filthy after one walk

So, I just ordered a raincoat.

Winnie’s abscess removal went very well. Her vet wants the area covered, but Winnie is too big for a T-shirt.

Ordered something online that might fit but until then, I cut open a pillowcase.

I told Winnie she looks chic and she’s too stoned to bother looking in the mirror.

The wild ones are having so much fun that I filmed in slo-mo or they’d be a furry blur.

🧵Our Bouviers went romping around the backyard, just after we brushed, clipped and washed 200 pounds of fluff. 😏

Wouldn’t have it any other way.

My magnificent Kai died young after a long illness, so watching these happy girls is everything.

Audrey Hepburn has hit the 14 month teenage phase.

Frolicking with her 100+ pound baby sitter, who plays as hard as she does, is the only way to tire this pup out.

We can’t pay Winnie enough for her service.

Walking the pups in this neighbourhood makes them feel like they’re in the middle of an action movie.

We saw bunnies, cats and, finally, the stars of the film: wild turkeys.

After Kai died, our home felt so empty.

Winnie is three! 🎂

Three is a special age for Bouviers - it’s when they’re truly adults. Winnie has had 2 knee surgeries, become a big sister and handled it all like a champ.

Happy Birthday you massive, fluffy, gentle Queen.

Now, Audrey Hepburn is the only pup in our home.

Bouviers are protection dogs with a long fuse.

They realized the snarling dog was leashed, so they ignored and kept walking.
