On #ThisDayInHistory in 1945, Swedish diplomat #RaoulWallenberg was taken by the #RedArmy & disappeared. He saved thousands of Jews from the Holocaust by issuing forged papers & sheltering them in embassy territory. His death is a mystery, but he was probably mistakenly executed.

In July 1944, 31-year-old #RaoulWallenberg arrived in Budapest with a mission: save as many Jews as possible. He created the Schutzpass, a document so convincing that it spared over 8,000 Jews from deportation and turned 31 buildings into safe havens under Swedish protection.
