Working online with @saraheminnisphd.bsky.social to get some #academicwriting done. Also filling up on a late #ResearchCoffee while using the Linen Hall Library’s Divided Society online collection. I am fairly sure I am likely only one in years to go through back issues of Police Beat. 😳
Hit Established just at the right time - earlier the line was out the door, but with the parade about to start (y’all enjoy that now), it’s emptied out a bit. Last #ResearchCoffee here in the center before I leave tomorrow. Fantastic cup of the Ethiopian filter.
First day of intense writing week in Belfast…
An afternoon at the Linen Hall, 1st #ResearchCoffee (at 4 pm!!!), and some scores for a great salad and even better dessert!
#ResearchCoffee #1 of the trip. I have a few hours before grabbing my bus. Nowhere to go quickly!
Having a 3/10 kind of morning, so stopped for a #ResearchCoffee at Rival Bros. in Philly. ☕️❤️☕️❤️
Enjoying a #ResearchCoffee out after being snowed in. Spending the afternoon tabulating NI Life and Times data.
Me and my #ResearchCoffee are stuck in to a writing “bootcamp” on campus today.
#ResearchCoffee baby-head mug filled with pink “unicorn” hot chocolate I found in the cabinet spiked with instant decaf coffee (to make me THINK caffeine is coming) for another late #academicwriting session.
Queuing up white noise recording I made at Ballyhack Nero to put me in a coffee shop mood.
1K words. #ResearchCoffee baby-head mug & I are taking a break to vacuum before picking up again on police accountability mechanisms in Northern Ireland. Of course, staying up late to watch hrs of recent Policing Board meetings means baby-head mug is being constantly refilled today.

#ResearchCoffee #1 just arrived for another day of studying…policing in conflict.
My mind cannot take a break (and I feel guilty doing so), and, again, it is getting particularly overwhelming.
Other “famous” coffee shops are absurdly crowded this morning in #Belfast city center - the hidden gem which is all but empty is Hustle on Rosemary St. Lots of tables, plugs available, WiFi. Vegan menu, so need to order oat milk with my Americano, but who cares? #ResearchCoffee #1 is piping hot. ☕️☕️☕️
#ResearchCoffee #2 is ridiculously caloric and sweet, but I did it anyway. Needed a pick me up as I write a summary about pre-1800s systems of policing in the UK.
Cafe Nero in Ballyhackamore is poppin since other coffee shop in the area are closed for holidays. Got a wee table, though, & am stuck in for writing. Got my #ResearchCoffee #1 in a to-go cup just in case I’d not get a table, lol. Back to the Americanos here in NI - I get filter when I can, though.
I…am…so…caffeinated…
I cannot wait to get on the G1 and get to the AirBnB. I just want to nap!
#ResearchCoffee #2
My official #ResearchCoffee #1 of the trip did not appreciate the turbulence of the flight 🤣 (I did have a lid…this was while adding cream).
Got quite a few hours work done, though! ✅
#ResearchCoffee #1 as, once again, I’m delving into statistics (this morning, race and gender) and listening to The Nolan Show.
Shout out to any of you out there who are able to get yourselves in front of your #academicwriting and add a few more sentences today!
#ResearchCoffee #1 at the ready as I sit down at Panera for my weekly Thursday #academicwriting hours. Got my Zoom accountability buddy from our faculty writing network with me, which is such a great source of support.
#ResearchCoffee #1 at Cafe Bru as I pour over HR statistics from 2000/2001. My statistical/ data happy place.
On an unrelated note, a student asked me what classes I teach and said she’d like to take my classes - why? My purple hair.
#ResearchCoffee #2 reheated in microwave and I am eyeball-deep in statistics from 2001.
Sometimes I actually get the time to not only do what I love, but to love what I do.
Facilitating an all-day writing “bootcamp” online. #ResearchCoffee 1 almost done (long cold, but still drinking!) & Electronic is blasting as my writing vibe. Others on Zoom have to watch the head-bopping magic happen! 🤣🤣
Good luck to all trying to be productive, too!

Panera is playing one of Northern Ireland’s unofficial anthems…”and soooooo, Sally can wait, she knows it’s too late as we’re walking on by…”
Meanwhile, I’m up for a refill of #ResearchCoffee & I should order my late lunch soon. Going to eat while watching a webinar on what? Northern Ireland…
First, A #ResearchCoffee at Waffle House to edit part of a chapter (and eat some hashbrowns) before having fun doing some handiwork for a friend including installing a big-a$$ with this awesome drill. No chips to the manicure, either! AAARGGG!
Attending an all day #academicwriting bootcamp on campus, so have my #ResearchCoffee #1 halfway consumed, and wearing my Stamp Act shirt in recognition of No Kings.
#ResearchCoffee #1 (and accompanying iced tea, because there is never enough caffeine when you are writing).
As we barrel headlong into a possibility of community conflict that we will not be able to turn back from, I have poured #ResearchCoffee #4 or #5 from my good ol’ Stanley.
…back to writing about Northern Ireland. No relevance to current events at all…
My “official” #ResearchCoffee #1 at a #coffee shop that was recommended to me up here near UU. If you get up to this part, check out Vintage Kolektyw it looks like my dream #coffeeshop would be. Very good filter coffee, too.
Also located at an important place in my mind…
I’ve seen #Juko on social media just opening here in central #Belfast, so with my ‘extra’ day, I decided to check it out. Got a crazy fruity matcha drink…not my usual #ResearchCoffee, but here we are!
#ResearchCoffee #3 on Rosemary Street (if you know me, you’d know why, but it’s deep history). Hustle (vegan coffeeshop) is open into the evening, which I endorse, so I got a cupcake. 🧁
New sneaks also got a #Belfast workout today - a sparkle purple style is why I’m glad I fit into kids’ sizes!
