Response teams ventured into windy conditions to disentangle a young right whale towing a buoy.

The team was able to disengage the buoy, but some wrappings remained around the tail, which may eventually fall off.

Conservation groups have been vocal that existing measures do not adequately protect #RightWhales and have pushed for strengthening the speed limit rule by expanding seasonal management areas, applying speed limits to smaller vessels, and making compliance mandatory in dynamic management areas.
