Photograph taken in the hothouse at Ripley Castle, Yorkshire. The gardener clearly enjoyed setting this up. Yes, I know I scalped the top of the photograph but I wasn't wearing my glasses. Image taken crouched down looking up towards the fluted glass divider in a hothouse where a plastic skeleton has been propped up. It has its mouth open like it's laughing and has an empty wine glass in its right hand. It is seated amongst various desert plants including spiky cacti, rocks and gravel.

Photograph taken in the gardens of Ripley Castle in Yorkshire. Didn't spot this initially but so glad when I did. Wonder how many people walk past and never see it. Image shows an old white door within a warm-toned stone wall in a garden. The door is well hidden by the huge, old wisteria that twists its way over the door and along the wall. Once flowering, the door may vanish completely! In the bottom right hand corner is a small clump of beautiful yellow narcissus.

Photograph taken using a macro setting and a monochrome filter, of the trunk of a Lacy Tree Philodendron growing happily in the old hothouse at Ripley Castle gardens in Yorkshire. It's the strangest looking tree trunk I've ever seen - so full of texture and shapes. Portrait frame with two-thirds taken over by the trunk (from the left edge) and the right-hand third being huge leaves in the background. The trunk has two obvious large roundish shapes surrounded by rough edges with tiny spines. The surface of the circles looks almost whitewashed with ridges and dots like a stubbly chin. Around these circular areas are longer rough strands. Loved getting inside the hothouse. Although it needed a large cash injection and many of the plants had been left to their own devices, there were signs that someone was doing their best up against an immense challenge, adding quirky touches here and there.
