River Stones Can we know how long these rocks have been there? That lie on the bed of this calm river, beyond that tired old bridge that needs repair, in cool water that would make me shiver. They count their short days in millennia, as if our glorious sun never moves. Yet flood won’t move them from this area, but will still attempt to roll them smooth. The moss that grows on this stationary stone, somehow feeds this rich and varied fauna, who benefit this intricate biome, ensures this continuing plethora. We pass, look, and never know how to care, these stones are always beyond our despair. @BardPharts 2 April 2025
