Record Rescue (Bargyn Bin Edition) - Couldn't leave this admittedly questionable looking vintage (probably 1960) copy of Abbey Lincoln's Abbey Is Blue behind tonight. Plenty well loved with lots of scratches 'n scuffs. The cover had old beige paper tape around the edges (which came off relatively easily). For 3 bux, I took a chance as I didn't have the album. What an amazing album! I never knew "Afro-Blue" had lyrics, of which Abbey debuts here. Amazingly the grooves aren't distorted and there are no skips, so its an enjoyable listen, especially with the mono cartridge (which minimizes audible ticks 'n pops). Now that I know I love this album I have to look for an upgrade. Such as beautiful recording. Her version of "Lost In The Stars" sends shudders down the spine. A keeper!
