Roger Ballen image of rather dirty, possibly inbred, South African white male with a wire cage around his head holding a cat by th escruff of it's neck in his left hand.
One example of the extraordinary Roger Ballen "Outsider Art" exhibition at the Halle Saint-Pierre 'Art Brut' gallery in Montmartre, Paris in late 2019/20. the scene depicts a collection of undressed dolls and maquettes assembled on boxes with a back-cloth painted with child-like drawings of scary faces. This was one of perhaps three dozen settings by Ballen and which must have taken at least a month to assemble.
The South African 'white male' is a common theme in his photo monographs - and which I knew of many years ago - but his "Singular / Outsider" is a recent discovery and his artwork constructions are bizarre. If you ever get the chance to visit such an exhibition, take it!
