The refusal to pay for proprietary nVidia, AMD, Intel or ARM AI just advances my agenda:
#RISC-V #RVA23 with open non-spyware #CoralNPU cores - few if you hate LLMs, many if you love them - will crush these proprietary chips. They'll be far cheaper, made in China, not a lot slower or power hungry.

#Ubuntu #Ubuntu26.04 will be first #UbuntuLTS released on #RVA23 #RISC-V, so #by_2027 or latest #by_2028 the transition should be largely complete:
Underlying hardware will be #RISC-V so #by_2029 expect #x86 support to end.
It would be unwise to buy any new x86.
Quick primer:
A modern #datacentre relies on #RISC-V ( #RVA23) open #AISoC chips typically with #CoralNPU codes to train #LLM. Totally open designs any chipmaker can customize, any chip fab can create.
More specialized inference wafers are much larger simpler chips (like #Groq).
#ARM is legacy.
Much rides on how #RVV handles it. As the CPU inexorably shift to #RISC-V #RVA23 the arrays of tiles, tensors of takums, etc, need to get handled in pipelines not buses.
Most of our data wait time is for NPUs so I expect them to go right on storage planes with converters

Closely related is Chinas push to #RVA23 and domestic software that it shares with BRICS.

The simplest #CoralNPU #SoC at 2 TOPS is about in the middle range of #RVV1 class #RISC-V accelerators. The #nVidia and #RaspberryPi #edgeAI devices offer 10-50TOPS but in 2026 it's certain that #RVA23 will dominate levels under 100TOPS, with #PyTorch support, etc.

#RVV "defines a scalable #RISC-V vector architecture like Intel’s AVX or ARM’s NEON [but] length-agnostic...from 128 bits to 1024 bits or more—without recompilation."
#RVV1 is part of #RVA23 & used in #CoralNPU for #SoC wearables, augmented reality glasses, smartwatches.

US experts admit losing the #AIrace to the less advanced but radically cheaper China chips and #opensource approach. This is accelerating due to #CoralNPU released by #Google, Meta+Google cooperating on #TorchTPU, #RVA23 and #RVV1 #RISC-V, China's rising #HBM3 capacity.
It's #RISC-V the dash works here same convention as #Wikipedia.
On #RVA23 posts please indicate country of origin & manufacture, as most of the market is avoiding US & Israeli boards for spyware and sabotage reasons.
I hope you understand the world-shaking implications of #RVA23 chips and going off #Microsoft, #Oracle and #Amazon to build sovereign stacks with #PostgresQL, #NoSQL, #Linux, #TorchTPU, #openLLM.
Both #Google and #Apple could be made to drastically expand in Canada as well or offer sovereign stack.
In theory yes though it has behaved if anything even worse than Intel with less scrutiny. It was almost bought by nVidia!
US & UK behave so similarly in global affairs and spying that one can barely tell #PerfidiousAlbion from #USrael now. It isn't safe for #BRICS to rely on any of it.
Thus #RVA23.
When H20 was cleared in an export version and nVidia inked a deal to put #PalantirFoundry in its drivers and to port #CUDA especially #CUDA-Q to #RVA23, it was clearly pre-empting projects like #ZLUDA which are verifiably no- #killswitch.
NVidia can claim chips are clean but CUDA cannot be.

Not just autos. As the chip industry moves to #RVA23 at astonishing speed, both of the proprietary American legacy ISAs ( #x86 and #ARM) are done for, with only Apple's M series variant likely to survive. Chinese proprietary designs will survive from #Huawei and maybe one other, but, #intel ended.
Acquiring #Groq compiler assets and getting #JonathanRoss probably forestalls the collapse by at least six months.
But #nVidiaPalantir dealings will lock them out of #BRICS and even out of most #Commonwealth countries pursuing #RVA23 sovereign stacks. You just can't enable any #LebanonPagerAttack.
Re "localization, openness, repair, and maintenance" this to me suggests at least:

#RVA23 had huge impact and tipped the balance to #RISC-V in 2025.
#Ascalon #Quintauris #Titania #XuanTie #XiangShan #Tenstorrent plus #IronwoodTPU #MTIA cover such wide application range that all CPU purchases of ye olde ARM must be considered very short term investments.
#Apple #nVidia #intel?
Proposing a new 2026 #tech_standard:
Any CPU based on x86 or ARM is now "ye olde" laptop or whatever. Only #RVA23 is considered current technology even if the ARM or M class chip was created in 2026.
Any chip that is not #RISC-V, #SMIC, #photonic, #qubit, #thermodynamic is from "olden times".
Ye Olde for any x86 processor is based.
Apple has to move to #RVA23 and put it's engineering into an open source core not for the benefit of ARM and it's sleazy owners.
China disseminates stability oddly the way the Internet does: by RFC and consortium.
When they have a standard wiring harness in Huawei #HIMA, when they agree on open source #torusinterconnect and get #Databricks #PostgreSQL #GPMI-B #Naxtra #Qijin #RVA23 #photonicGPU going, infrastructure = China.
#Nazis (in #NATO countries and/or celebrating Christmas on #Saturnalia) can start shifting to #RISC-V now without waiting for final #BRICS products that will flood the market cheap in 2026, starting on real Christmas.

The odd thing with Chips Act was that most of the industry thought it would be catastrophic to motivate China to leapfrog rather than passively use West tech. The open source chip designs like #RISC-V were mature enough for 95% of uses, and within DUV range.
Now with #RVA23 it's like 98%. Boom.

gg16 (about US$2200 right now & rising) for a dual #Huawei #Ascend310 #orangePi #miniPC claimed to be able to deliver 352 trillion operations per second in AI workloads, about 6x #AMD or #nVidia equivalents.
The #RVA23 vendors have to respond in 2026 decisively.

Expect every board more than #gg1 (about C$200) to be RVA23 in 2026, with most as low as gg0.25 also, everything else #RVA22 and only end sensors #RVA20.
A #datacentre uses these and soon #GPMI-B and #TorchTPU and #CUDA-Q.
