Interestingly, as soon as games use the Middle Ages directly, they are seen as "medievalist" games. Yet, when using such basic medieval themes such as "keys" and putting them at the centre (Mario, Doom, Adventure, ...), they are not seen as medievalist.

Voices... sounds uttered by humans.
Environmental sounds such as in #AgeOfEmpires are quite similar in that way. The sound of nature is always there, the sound of medieval work or the ringing of "the bell" is only there, when humans are there too.
