Over in Michigan, Governor Gretchen Whitmer finally scheduled the special election for #SD35 last week. The seat had sat vacant since January when State Senator Kristen McDonald Rivet resigned it to become MI-08 Congresswoman.
Despite the district backing Harris by 1, the Dems should hold it.

One thing we didn't note about Iowa's #HD100: The predecessor district (numbered the 83rd) was won by a Democrat as recently as 2018. One knowledgeable local TDB commenter called it "the spitting image" of #SD35, which Dems flipped in a shocker in January

Governor Gretchen Whitmer must call for a special election for #SD35. The people of that district deserve representation, and the governor's antics in stalling calling for a special election might cost Democrats the seat once a special election is called.
