SSTs are leveling up but still following 2023 SSTs as they are also flat the coming weeks. But likely we will see a relaxation of the situation the coming weeks, as the Indian Ocean at least could cool somewhat down, as strong surface winds prevail over large parts of this basin.

Yeah global SSTs are declining, äh at least a little bit

Sadly it doesn't change that we have way too much energy currently in the upper oceans which means a declining SST means an increase in latent heat release which will likely later backfire on SSTs again...

Dry air nearby & #upwelling of <26C #SSTs as #Nicole moves over cold wake limiting development last 24h. Unclear what is bigger influence.
