At the #SaferTogether forum, Greg Jackson, former deputy director of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, advocated for acknowledging the work that’s contributed to a historic drop in shootings. “When we glaze over our progress, our success, we are doing ourselves a disservice.”
At our #SaferTogether forum, Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Austin Davis said reducing gun violence is his office’s highest priority. But it’s not just “a Pennsylvania problem,” he said. “It’s a uniquely American problem.”
Chico Tillmon says the shift from “gun violence prevention” to “community violence intervention” wasn’t just a name change — it was a mindset shift. CVI recognizes the whole ecosystem, he said.
Tillmon spoke on the “Beyond the Numbers” panel at The Trace’s #SaferTogether forum.
David Brown and Adam Geer kicked off The Trace’s #SaferTogether forum! In the “No Going Back” panel, moderated by James Burnett, they discussed how continued funding for gun violence reduction is critical to sustaining a decrease in shootings in Philadelphia.
