Most of the characters go against social norms. Sabre and Cay both left their family homes to become pirates. Lyra took a different route away from status quo & ended up as a cursed siren.
The only followed expectation is Lyra and Cay's marriage (per the siren's curse)

In the world of #SailsWIP you don't get a good look at all the religions. Their magic and gods are real, most people are polytheists. Most gods have a cult dedicated, at least partially, to worshipping them.
The Goddess of Flame and The God of Youth get a lot of attention

When the non POV character is a girlboss but she plays the "I'm just a girl" manipulation tactic too well that the POV character believes it... which means she comes across *not* as a girlboss... so now I think I've got to do at least a bit of dual POV.

I have a decent amount of characters I'd consider bi/pan & plenty of them would switch between those labels.
Best example is Captain Cay in #SailsWIP. She certainly leans sapphic, and would even admit that. But when asked preference she just shrugs. She likes whoever matches the right vibe for her.

I can't really think of a wip I have right now where no side characters get a happy ending.
Particularly in #SailsWIP (and the sequel I'm trying to outline). Not all of the side characters get a happy ending but more than a few do. One even gets to tell her story next.
This is going to be the year of me not being shy at all the "weird" stuff in my wips. Not all of my projects are going to be for everyone. So far, #SailsWIP is the most "digestible"
What if I said I had a secret wip idea (just in an idea-dump file rn) possibly set in the same world as #SailsWIP and #FallWIP featuring a virgin goddess and her most devout followers who are hellbent on deflowering her as a means of changing their religion?

that a fun little extra for #SailsWIP fans (once I publish) on like a ko-fi/patreon-like system would be to write out all of Sabre & Cay's letters to each other. Especially the ones after they've admitted their feelings.

Ursus is distanced from most blood family tho Ursus' chosen name still reflects the family.
The youngest pirate aboard is Arcan, Ursus' son. Details of Arcan's conception don't appear in #SailsWIP.
Ursus doesn't know how to raise Arcan though there is protectiveness. Those duties fall mostly to Cay.

#SailsWIP doesn't have a true "villain". Most of the antagonistic forces are Cay's crew turning against her. However! There is one prominent villain figure among the crew:

i should clarify that the setting is a huge messy fantasy world/universe. i wanted complicated issues to infect the worldbuilding & characters. This is just one example.
In #SailsWIP it's more of a backdrop/texture to the world
In #FallWIP it's more prevalent but MC is more preoccupied with death

In #SailsWIP a good half-or-so of the world believes stories of magic & godbloods are myth.
Tirin's increased mercantile activity makes the seas a target for pirates. Even Kronia that is still run by godblooded noble families has started to favor wealth as power over divinity.
