Really indulgent with all these AUs but most of them are just for fun and ways to explore relationship threads that can't be explored in the OG #TangWIP . There's a lot of romantic potential with most of the characters Tang connects to, but who she ends up with is heavily based on circumstance.

Nothing from Succubus project for this, but #TangWIP is thriving with AU versions. Primarily a Fairytale AU and a University AU. Each AU considers a slightly different shape to the relationships in OG Tang. Each AU involves a little hint that they're connected in every universe.

Wrestling a taboo relationship, with a large potential to be toxic, into a semblance of a healthy relationship for the greater good.

At least how the current drafts stand

In the OG version of #TangWIP Birc & Tang become friends through school. And Birc gets to go on a little gender journey where gender neutral terms feel less and less fitting. Birc is still nonbinary but realizes that more masculine terms are preferred. Tilts things to he/they.

Nothing published yet but a lot of my characters are trans! Or at least gender nonconforming. Or questioning.

My fave rn is Birc from #TangWIP. In Fairytale Edition they're the princeling (a pet name) who catches the attention of a handsome knight Tang. Synthesizes their own HRT with alchemy.

I know i don't have anything published yet, but I want everyone to know that you can't ship whoever the fuck you want (I do). Canon or not, taboo or not. Have fun. (I do). There's a reason I have several #TangWIP options. OG, Fairytale, University. A Tang multiverse, if you will.

Tang: trans masc. Part of the whole story (multiple arcs) is about Tang feeling safe and loved enough to start questioning gender instead of just sweeping it under the rug.

Periodic reminder that #TangWIP isn't meant to be a depiction of super normal healthy relationships.

Because of the episodes a side story, or a hint of something in one episode can become it's own episode at some point.
Another example is Artemis' difficulty in getting over her feelings for Tang. It's peppered into a lot of episode until eventually it gets it's own space.

What's fun about #TangWIP being written in "episodes" is that there's a lot more flexibility for side stories.
My fave example is a few mentions of Birc doing summer training & making friends. It'll become it's own episode focus later (one of these friends has a connection to Tang.)

Anyone in the #TangWIP is likely to have social media (except in the Fairytale Edition) but it isn't something I've thought of much.

Tang is wishy-washy about it. A love-hate relationship. Mostly uses it to look at stuff her friends send her.

Leto uses it for bookish stuff, research interests.

I write #TangWIP to a bit of a break from the typical romantic plot to focus more on heartbreak/ unsatisfying relationships while reaching for joy.

I try to ask the question of how it feels to love somebody deeply while your broken heart still stings for a different love that you can't shake.

She enjoys nonfiction (in the university AU she's a history professor). But she probably also really like super complex epic fantasy & sci-fi. Books that make her think.

Bit of a tricky one, since Tang is a natural flirt. When Tang likes someone her flirting gets shyer, not wholly reserved but the tone changes to uncertainty instead of confidence. And she's more willing to have conversations that don't involve flirtatious jokes.

Tang? So much 😅 She's a huge flirt even with people she really really shouldn't be flirting with (like her exes whose mother she married, or her sister, or her crush's son)

Tang never thought much about dating before she met Cory. She knows the classic dates everyone goes on: movies, dinner, etc. But when she tries them with Cory, they're not things she wants. She's still figuring out her ideal date night. She's happy to just be with her ladies

Artemis: chronically on time (much like her mother, Cory. Sticks to schedules)

Apollo: chronically late. (He gets distracted)

Birc: chronically early (also like Cory's true impulse to be early but without the restraint to only on time)

This is great for my #TangWIP (OG edition) throuple.

Cory: chronically on time

You'd expect Cory to be chronically early because she's a perfectionist & loves a plan. She's such a planner that "on time" works. Or arrives early and waits elsewhere

Sometimes the things that hurt us never go away. Sometimes the things that hurt or stick with us no matter how much we try to push them aside.

Sometimes our greatest moments of joy are interrupted by stray negatives we're reminded of. But #TangWIP is a reminder to focus on the joy when possible
