Poster for the Family History Society of Cheshire titled ‘Events this Week’. A green header displays the Society name and logo. Below are four images showing a mix of activities: an online talk on a laptop screen, an in-person group talk, one-to-one research help in a library, and a guided outdoor heritage walk near a historic church. A small calendar with marked dates suggests multiple events being attended

A black and white engraving in landscape format. It shows a view entitled "Crosses at Sandbach", the artist was W. Alexander FSA and the engraver was J. Byrne. It shows one of the Saxon crosses on a worn stone plinth. Behind it are timber framed buildings (which are still there now) in the Market Place.
Book of Engravings
One of my favourite secondhand #books is a collection of engravings from the 18th & 19th centuries of #Cheshire. This is a beauty, "The Crosses at #Sandbach" by W. Alexander, 1810. The actual crosses are magnificent, too.

Two very large composite standing stones, richly decorated and mounted on some steps. A waist high metal fence surrounds them. There are buildings in the background, one of which has scaffolding erected around it. It is a sunny day, with wispy clouds. For more information on the stones, visit: https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/sandbach-crosses/history/
The magnificent 9th century #Sandbach Crosses, dominating the market-place. Originally erected somewhere else (but presumably nearby), they were moved there in the C16, broken up in the C17 & reassembled in the C19. #Cheshire #StandingStoneSunday #StoneworkSunday #SaxonSunday

On Saturday morning I will be holding a surgery with Cllr Simon Richards in #Sandbach Town Hall from 10.30am until 11.30am. This is the regular monthly surgery organised by Sandbach Town Council.
#Sandbach School has been awarded nearly £60M of central government funding. Do come to the school today and see how the money is being spent. The exhibition is open until 7pm
I was pleased to be able to support #Sandbach Mayor John Arnold at the Remembrance Sunday services in St Mary’s and at the cemetery today. Lest we forget.
OK, so we're on here now. Created this account yonks ago, but it's now active. (Yes, we forgot. <sighs>) Please follow us. #congleton #sandbach #biddulph #alsager #goostrey #holmeschapel

The Wakes Fair is on this weekend in #Sandbach town centre.
Lovely to see a rainbow over #Sandbach Heath at the end of my cycle round yesterday evening to check the alleyways were clear (and thanks to all those involved).
I have just completed the consultation response on walking and cycling in Cheshire East. I particularly like the idea of a walking/cycling route from the #Sandbach town centre, down Cookesmere Lane, through the Elworth Hall estate to the station. cheshireeast.gov.uk/consultations
#Sandbach is a lovely place to live. This morning I went swimming at the leisure centre then walked home through the park in time to start work at 9.
The #Sandbach Party in the Park this year is celebrating the 80th anniversary of VJ Day - 16 August - tickets £5 available at sandbach.gov.uk/event/vj-day-c…

The Saxon crosses of Sandbach fuse pagan and Christian symbols in stone. Nearly lost to Civil War zealotry, they were restored in 1816. A timeless reminder: cultures can clash, yet still create something enduring and beautiful! #sandbach #anglosaxon #celticchristianity

Lots of good conversations on #Sandbach Heath today. The impact of the lovely weather is that lots of people were outside and wanted to chat, so my leafleting round has already taken 4 hours !
