Here's another supporter of the #SaveAudioDrama at the #BBC petition. Like Julia, I use these plays in my teaching too. She posted this video on the petition website - you can add your voice as well: www.change.org/p/save-audio...

But you can also listen to George Bernard Shaw's 'Saint Joan':

Both are worth a listen. #SaveAudioDrama #RadioDrama (2/2)
Drama on 3: Saint Joan of the Anthropocene 8.00pm Radio 3 Radio 3 has broadcast a play every Sunday evening for as long as most people can remember, but now there is a plan to bring the slot to an end, leading to protests from the community of radio dramatists. Their dismay is understandable. Drama on 3 is a platform for both new and established talent, with tonight's powerful offering - a take on George Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan, in which it's a Greta Thunberg-like activist who is the heroine - being a mixture of both. One feels for all involved -writer Linda Marshall Griffiths, 23-year-old Safia Oakley-Green in the title role, that magnificent servant of radio drama Toby Jones, and the whole of the rest of the production. Tough times. SIMON O'HAGAN

Liz is absolutely right. If you don't know what the fuss is about, listen to some BBC Radio 3 drama. There's a wealth of wonderful plays on BBC Sounds. Follow the link below or reply to this post telling me what sort of drama you like & I'll recommend something currently available.

I want to challenge almost every paragraph of this for being misleading if not actually untruthful. It's presenting a very particular (biased) point of view. And where's the mention of the petition, signed by thousands of people and accompanied by scores of impassioned comments? #SaveAudioDrama
That's how I feel about Drama on 3.
