Nighttime on the Seaside Promenade along the beach in Seaside, Oregon during the recent atmospheric river. Black-and-white horizontal photograph: The streetlights and white wall of the promenade (occasionally broken by beach access points), march diagonally across the image from the lower right to just above the mid-point of the left side of the image. Blowing mist is is visible in the streetlights glow, and everything glistens with a coating of water. Outside of the areas light by the light, there is the blackness of a night where the moon is blocked by thick clouds you cannot see, but know are there.

Known Only to God Grave of the Unknown Sailor, Seaside, Oregon Horizontal image: white stone with "KNOWN ONLY TO GOD" in black lettering. In front of the stone is a field of white flowers with yellow center (daisies). Some of the daisies still have their petals, but some do not. Photo perspective is slight off to the side, so the lettering runs slightly diagonally across the frame. There are actually 3 sailors buried here. Their bodies washed up on the beach in April 25, 1865. They had come ashore for fresh water, found it, but didn't give full names. They headed back out to their ship. No one on shore knows what happened next, but the next morning the waves deposited their corpses upon the shore, and a townsperson buried them.
