HfHR is in Selma this week to commemorate the 60th anniversary of #BloodySunday.
We gathered at Tabernacle Baptist Church @tbcselma with @revmarkthompson for the Jubilee Weekend opening mass meeting, honoring those who marched for voting rights in 1965
The struggle continues. #Selma60
We have just released a special limited edition 60th Anniversary Selma T-shirt
The Selma marches brought international attention to the brutality of racist segregation and Alabama’s denial of voting rights to Blacks.

YCV's Caitlin Metzguer traveled to Selma, AL, to honor the 60th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday and the many freedom fighters who paved the way for more inclusive and expanded voting rights. Check out some photos and read about her experience: youcanvote.org/news. ✊🏾🕊️ #Selma60 #KeepMarching
This weekend, we honored the legacy of the Selma marchers by crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge during #Selma60. From the Unity Breakfast to the Jubilee Parade, we reflected, marched, and recommitted to the fight for voting rights.

What a moment. What a movement. The energy, the passion, the unity—Selma 60 was a powerful reminder that history lives through us.
Thank you to every marcher, every speaker, and every person who continues to fight for justice. #StillMarching #Selma60
"Time is of the essence. If we allow what is happening now to normalize, then we affirm it. We who believe in freedom cannot rest until it comes.” @MsLaToshaBrown, Black Voters Matter Co-founder
It’s time y’all. Nation building time.

The Trumpists may have the $ & tech for exploitation & control, but they’re up against thinkers and doers capable of profound love and courage. 60 yrs after this generation’s elders were beaten bloody on the Edmund Pettus bridge, the lines are again: Courage or complicity? Episode to come. #Selma60
We cross the bridge one more time. #Selma60
As our President and CEO Detria Everson walked across the #EdmundPettusBridge, she thought of #RepJohnLewis' words on #Selma "[The Bridge] was a test of the belief that love was stronger than hate. It is. Much stronger. So much stronger."
She spoke with 11Alive News just after crossing.

History wasn’t that long ago. Always remember. #Selma60
60 years later, we’re still in the fight.
The foot soldiers of Selma marched for the right to vote, knowing the danger ahead. Today, voter suppression is still real—but so is our determination.
We honor them by continuing the work. We won’t stop now. #Selma60
This book about John Lewis by David Greenberg is exceptionally good. Written like a novel.

We cross the bridge one more time. #Selma60
Today we honor the heroes of Bloody Sunday, including the late John Lewis. Joining the commemoration of a key event in the civil rights movement that led to landmark voting rights legislation. 🗳️
The fight for #VotingRights continues. ✊

These past few days at the #Selma60 Jubilee have shown us exactly what community power looks like. We kicked off by meeting our neighbors where they are – hosting a warrant clinic in partnership with Growing Real Alternatives Everywhere and LDF to clear fines and fees.
A few years ago, Arndrea and I stood with John Lewis on this bridge, remembering the past and looking toward the future. As we return today for #Selma60, we continue the work for justice and democracy.
Always Remember Civil Rights Hero John Lewis ✊🏾 #Selma60 #BloodySunday
