Support the #Sendateacher Initiative Back in 2017, I created an initiative inspired by my experiences as a teacher in a supportive school with forward-thinking administrators who encouraged my growth by sending me to professional development opportunities across the country. The more I traveled and presented, the more I connected with educators for whom professional development was a rare privilege. I met teachers who were attending a conference simply because it was "their turn" (someone else had gone last year), and others who had paid their own way—covering costs themselves, including substitute teachers—for what they described as a "once in a career" opportunity to attend a major event.

Back in the day, when I was young (I’m not a kid anymore)…I created the #sendateacher initiative to send deserving teachers to the @shapeamerica.bsky.social national convention.
