Photograph taken of a beautiful chestnut horse in the stable at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire. Not a fancy racehorse but a raw beauty. Image shows the side profile of a chestnut-coloured horse asleep against a stable wall of dark coloured stone. The daylight gently illuminates its face. Was drawn to this horse. Yes it was asleep but it had a really peaceful aura. Went on a lovely horse ride round a turquoise lake in NZ many years ago. Had taken a few months of lessons as an adult so I could get a horse to trot and stop, which made such an experience possible.

Our striking black-and-white capture is taken from a very low angle, looking straight up at a tall tree. The tree dominates the image, rising from the bottom centre and stretching high into the sky. Its trunk is thick and almost column-like, wrapped densely in climbing ivy that gives it a textured, slightly rough appearance. As the trunk reaches upward, it narrows and branches out into a wide canopy. The branches spread in all directions like spokes, with clusters of leaves forming a delicate, lacy pattern against the sky. Above and around the tree, the sky is filled with dramatic, fast-moving clouds. The clouds vary in tone from bright white to deep grey, creating a sense of movement and tension. Light filters through gaps in the cloud cover, making parts of the sky glow while others appear dark and heavy, almost storm-like. At the edges of the image, faint silhouettes of other trees and hedges can be seen, but they are much lower and darker, framing the central tree without distracting from it. Overall, the scene feels powerful and slightly eerie. The upward perspective makes the tree seem immense and towering, while the high-contrast black-and-white tones and swirling clouds give the image a moody, almost cinematic atmosphere, like nature caught in a moment of quiet intensity. Finally, our picture is finished with a simple, white border frame.
