Dave Bowman in 2001 is ejected from the pod, crossing the vacuum of space to re-enter the Discovery's airlock. There is a small cloud of gas or dust that precedes him into the airlock.
Dave Bowman is now spinning in the middle of the airlock, unable to reach the control panel to close the airlock hatch.
Now Dave is floating upside-down from the camera's perspective, but he seems to be gaining control of his spinning and bouncing.
Dave has grasped something on the airlock bulkhead to stop flopping around and he is pressing the button to close the hatch and pressurize the airlock.

One of the things I think #seveneves does really well is describe the movement of objects and crafts in space. This is a feat considering it's so different from anything I've ever experienced and so have no point of reference to pull from #scifibooks

Halfway through #seveneves and so invested in the fate of the characters/human race. At the same time, I find the technical aspects of the book less charming than other #scifibooks I've read with technical science writing in them.

The thing I find so fascinating about #seveneves right now is how we don't really hear from the perspective of the everyday person. Even Dr. Harris on Earth is deeply enmeshed in the #scifi issues. It leaves it to the reader to imagine what would become important to you/what wouldn't matter anymore.
