dark windows all my ghosts have pitch black eyes shadowy voids where light should be they grip my arms and hold my head forcing me to look backwards towards graveyard regrets and empty chairs on peeling porches their icy incomplete whispers come from the north and chill me to the marrow i know you are gone but i still sit next to your memory the wind catches the rocking chair and i try to pretend its you but the evening shadows are far too strong for your light to remain i sit in the sighing sundown and wait for the morning that always takes too long to arrive.
