I like that he makes an effort to woo her after his initial, bumbled attempt at a marriage of convenience proposal. I like the ways they challenge each other and show their support. The Drew storyline gets a little... weird. I honestly think the story could've done without the extra special twist. It is a different perspective, but it didn't seem to completely fit in with the rest of the story. I received an author's copy of the audio book. (Book review) 🩵🎧 DUET NARRATION 🎧🩵 >Balm to Their Souls< I love the palpable tension between Aurelia "Aura," Princess of Verenza, and Ryot Davenport from the onset. Oh, the things I was hoping would happen in that alley. I'd say I'm ashamed, but I'd be lying. 😘 -- Book quote 'She is the antidote to my past. She is the reason I’m alive.' -- Ryot Davenport While the twist wasn't a surprise, I love that we got to see Ryot and understand his first marriage better. We also got to see him try to deny his attraction while she pushed his boundaries. I found it entertaining. So, back to the twist. I won't give anything away, but seriously, people? Ugh. Some people are such idiots! That said, there was a smaller twist that I didn't expect. I liked Aura most of the time, but she did get a bit too whiny, especially towards the end. I can understand some of the internal conflict, but I wasn't keen on how she handled it. I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are the growly Shane East and sweet and sassy Ava Lucas. Being in duet narration means their characters maintain the same level of energy and voice throughout. I say it every time. I love duet narration! I also love these narrators and their accents. 🩷🎧🩷 Story: 4 stars Narration: 4.5 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x

(Book review) Moisture Seeking Missile Maverick (Rick, Stone) and Giorgina (Gio, Mac, Goldie) are absolutely, deliciously, filthy together. Even when ridiculousness ensues, their chemistry snaps and crackles. -- Book quote 'Rick looks at me with interest. “Interesting word choice. You like the sound of whipping?” 'Heat squeezes a lasso around my lower belly. Of course, he'd misconstrue the meaning of what I said. And of course, I find it a turn on.' -- Giorgina One of the funniest parts is when he gives other names to his "pocket python." (See my review title for another one.) He's insanely over-the-top sometimes. 😄 Of course, I was laughing. He can be a real 🍆, but when he lets his guard down, I couldn't help but like him. It's obvious this is connected to other books, but having not read them wasn't a deterrent. (I'm too tired to rewrite the sentence to remove the double negative.) I was able to easily follow along. I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Shane East and Samantha Brentmoor. They are entertaining to listen to. I love Shane's accent, and Samantha does a pretty good job of mimicking it. Story: 4 stars Narration: 4.5 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x H = 30s; h = ?

(Book review, 1/2) **DUET NARRATION!** An Order... umm... Offer... Not to Refuse? Quentin "Q" Davenport and Vivian (Vivi, Raven) have a very unorthodox introduction. I have to admit, I kinda dig his gumption even with the potential eww factor. She curls her fingers into fists. “How dare the two of you decide my fate when I wasn’t in the room? What do you think this is? Regency England? I didn't realize you were that old.” -- Vivian These two are fire and ice in all the best ways. Well, mostly. OK, fine, Quentin is ridiculous on more than one occasion, but the passion between them is fun and hot! Quentin is completely overbearing here and there, but I do love when Vivian puts him in his place or simply defies him. 'I admit, from the moment I saw her, I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. Not even the fact she was going to marry my son stopped me from wanting her.' -- Quentin Davenport

(Book review, 2/2) This is most definitely over-the-top, exasperating, wildly steamy, funny, and a bit much sometimes, but I'm here for every crazy moment of it all. They were a couple worthy of my time. I'm going through this series out of order. It's honestly been good. There are some scenes in the next book that overlap, but the POV and impact shifts. I look forward to getting to the rest of the Davenport books. I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Shane East and Stella Hunter, both of whom I've listened to numerous times over the years. I always enjoy them, but in duet narration? *muah* 🩵 LOVE! 🩵 In fact, I loved it enough to listen to it twice. 😘 Story: 4.5 stars Narration: 4.5 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x H = 49; h = 23

(Book review) The Alphahole's Undoing I loved this Beauty and the Beast re-imagining! Knox "The Beast" Davenport is undoubtedly a Grade A 🫏🕳 (donkey + hole = asshole), but boy, can he rev a girl's engine. 🥵🥵 (two hot and sweaty emoji faces) June Donnelly can attest to that despite the scars on his face and body. I really wanted to hate him, but like her, I couldn't. His brand of foreplay with her was funny. He thrived on egging her on by intentionally calling her Kelly Assistant and July. I cheered each time she stood up to him. 🤭🥳 (chuckling face with hand over mouth and a celebrating emoji face) And I did other things each time he punished her. Mmm.... 'If she knew about the thickening column in my pants, Ms.-Sexy-Librarian-with-the-Virginal-Air-About-Her would run screaming.' -- Knox Davenport There is an awkward ILU part in the book. It starts as an out-of-nowhere scene between Knox and his brother, Ryot, and carries across a couple of chapters. The whole thing seemed too out of place and contrived. That aside, I loved this book and the characters I encountered along the way. This is my first L. Steele book, but won't be my last! I listened to the audio book. The narrators are fabulous and perfect fits for these characters! The duet narration was AWESOME! Honestly, Shane East and Evelyn Rose were simply marvelous. Story: 5 stars Narration: 5 stars Listening Speed: 1.7x
