Fir #clubmoss is a rare species that survives today mostly in upland areas of Britain, with #Dartmoor being near the southern limit of its UK range. Its presence on #Sharpitor is a reminder of the dramatic #climatic shifts that have shaped the Dartmoor #upland landscape.

Fir Clubmoss, a rare #periglacial relict plant, has been discovered on DPA land at #Sharpitor. Our #Ecologist and Land Manager, Dr Luke Sutton, identified colonies of this fascinating #moss living in ideal conditions between #granite boulders.
