Today is Shumai Dumplimgs Day in Japan. Shumai Dumplimg is a type of steamed dish from Chinese cuisine, in which a filling of meat, shrimp, etc. is wrapped in a flour skin, and is the second most popular steamed dish in Japan after Gyoza and Nikuman (meaning Steamed meat bun). The origin of the day is a play on words that reads 'Tsu (2) Tsu (2) Mu (6)'. Tsutsumu' means 'to wrap' in Japanese. It was established by the Japan Shumai Association in 2017.
