Two white-tailed jackrabbits (actually a species of hare, not true rabbits) sit in the newly-revealed brown grass after much of the snow has melted. The two jacks are still mostly in their winter white camouflage, which doesn't work so well. There is one to the top-left of the frame, slightly out of focus and looking towards the camera at frame center. It is sitting upright and alert, with both ears raised. Some brown fur is starting to come in on the face, chest, and front legs. There is a second jack at the bottom-right of the frame, facing directly away from the camera, with its head down in the grass, so it looks like a furry white bowling ball with two dark-marked eartips sticking up and a tiny bit of brown showing on the tail.

"I'm not sure our camouflage is working any more."

A white-tailed jackrabbit sits in the snow on top of a raised garden bed in a suburban back yard. He has his feet together underneath him, and his body pulled into a volume directly above them. His head is half-down, and ears flat back against his back. His eyes are open the merest slit. He is winter-white, but starting to turn brown as the days lengthen here, so along with their permanent dark markings on the ears and nose, some brown fur is starting to show through the white in his dewlap/chest area and in a spot on his back near his rear end.
A local white-tailed jackrabbit (actually a species of hare, not rabbit) is in solar-charging mode, having found a bit of sunbeam passing between our house and the neighbour's in the mid-afternoon.
