Novel summary in white text against a desaturated backdrop of a grinning, fanged mouth superimposed over a rainy street. The cover art of MINTY FRESH is below and surrounded by descriptions of the book.
Summary:
“Tell me how you knew about the meeting.”
“I din’t.”
“Strange,” said the vampire. “You just happened to be there?”
“What? Y’think I’m some kinda spy?” Minty laughed, a hiccupy sound. “Man, I fell outta a window.” She brought her hand up and leaned her head over the vampire’s restraining arm to poke the clove cigarette between her lips. “Gotta light?”
“No.”
“Fuck,” she said, leaning her head against the wall and looking up at the night sky. “Haven’t had wunna these in ages.”
The vampire took hold of her face and forced her to look at it. “Answer my questions, and I’ll find you a light.”
“I already did.”
“Not,” said the vampire, gripping her so tight her breath hitched, “to my satisfaction.” The claws of its free hand dug a little further into her cheeks. Its black and lightless eyes, each with a deep red iris, bore into hers.
Funny how she hadn’t noticed the color earlier. In the daylight, as waning as it had been, the vampire’s eyes had been pure black, flat and bottomless. Now they burned.
It sobered her in an instant. This was a monster, one always hungry for blood. If it wanted, it could tear her apart and leave her scattered with the rest of the garbage in that piece of shit alley.
Not that she didn’t belong there.
A thought rose in her mind: Sid was waiting for her.
Minty opened her mouth, as if to scream. When the vampire quickly moved to cover her mouth, she bit down as hard as she could.
