Ooh, the recording of my Anchor talk at #SotB2026 got published! 🤩
On my way back home from #SotB2026 I hacked my way into animating between `position-area` values with View Transitions.
Demo + details can be found on my blog: www.bram.us/2026/03/02/a...
It’s not 100% perfect though, as Firefox doesn’t do anything and Chrome has a 1-frame glitch.
I am devastated that I didn't shout out ti.to/home as one of our suppliers for @londonwebstandards.org #SotB2026
They are such an awesome service.
Sorry @paulca.com
I've long been confused by the changing Lighthouse ("Core Web Vital") metrics - and they depreciated Time To Interactive (TTI) just as more and more sites and web apps started loading static sites that got "hydrated" with JS later.
At State of the Browser, @zachleat talked about the […]
Sara smiling a wonky smile in front of a large red circle with a blue line bisecting it horizontally, with HAMMERSMITH written across it.
I was too busy talking to lovely people to take any photos at State of the Browser or at the pub afterwards - an absolute pleasure, and I remain very grateful to be able to enjoy the company of these people who all have so much heart and soul.
So I snapped […]

Side-scrolling video game with Cassie as the character, in an office setting, running under a whiteboard with the text, “Count from 1-6 with me! h1 h2 h3 h4 h5 h6”.
I love that @cassiecodes.bsky.social worked that quote into her #SotB2026 live-coded video game.

(Playing catch-up from my Masto posts.)
@jason-williams.co.uk we spoke after your talk today at #SotB2026. Once again a great talk and thank you! Hope you feel better soon.
@londonwebstandards.org
Had a brilliant day today at #SotB2026 !
Took all my notes on paper, which is why I've been quiet about it, it's better for my concentration ✏️
Looking forward to chinwagging down the pub shortly 🍻
"a talk is more than bits of code" - @cassiecodes.bsky.social - I strongly, *strongly* agree @ #SotB2026
You can find the slides of my #SotB2026 talk on my blog: www.bram.us/2026/02/28/a...
Zach showing the impact of SPAs on the delay of interactivity
“We’re just widening this gap” – @zachleat.com #SotB2026
From @kitation.co.uk’s #SotB2026 talk: “If you can count from one to six, you can do headings.”

It’s wild that (no longer necessary) JavaScript dating back to the Dreamweaver days is still being so widely-used today.
@zachleat.com making me feel very old at #SotB2026
@zachleat is mortified that his code sample <img> tags have no alt-text. I think he is incorrectly harsh on himself. *When viewing the code*, additional tag properties would make the material less accessible, not more.

“There’s this slightly odd principle that if something’s terrible for everybody, it’s not an accessibility problem, it’s just… a bit shit.” – @kitation.co.uk on the limits of WCAG and automated accessibility testing. #SotB2026
The Accessibility Plateau by Chad Gowler, with this gem of WCAG compliance.

Fiona Safari talks about her understanding of her own introversion. I see awareness and happy acceptance of being introverted in my own children. If I'd known and accepted the concept fully as a teenager, I think I would have been happier. They seem to be.

Terrific technical talk by @bramus on browser-native anchoring. Has profound implications for webmap popups:

Bramus Van Damme talking about anchor positioning
I’m at Barbican for #SotB2026 today (what a fantastic venue!), currently watching @bram.us (what a fantastic presenter!) showing off what’s possible with CSS anchor positioning - another excellent addition to CSS that makes the web better and replaces a lot of clunky JavaScript.
Bramus presenting on stage
If you’ve been confused by CSS anchor positioning, you really must watch @bram.us’s talk from #SotB2026
It’s demystified a lot for me and we’re only halfway through!
Waiting for the start of #sotb26 - my first time. Might get to say hello to old collaborator @dletorey, and also pleased to see accessibility in the spotlight.

Mildly delayed start, but now en route and very excited for State of the Browser! #SotB2026
Very much looking forward to #SotB2026 tomorrow, that came round fast!
Very much dreading the early start for the long trek up north to the big city.
Hope the trains wake up in time.
I did a small-scale rehearsal of my upcoming CSS Anchor Positioning talk at a local meetup.
Happy with how it went and I feel fully prepared for #SotB2026 this Saturday 🤩
Thanks for having me, #PHPAntwerp. Getting to see some of my old PHP friends again was the cherry on top 😊
Bruce is getting into fighting shape (bsky.app/profile/bruc...) for #SotB2026 attendees, Steve’s offering a discount (mastodon.social/@SteveFaulkn...), and all I’ve got is a free sticker for whomever wants one for as long as my supply lasts.
