Tour of villages - Day 4
Another great day out meeting with residents & Parish Councillors across South West #Norfolk
Today I visited #Southery, #Hilgay, #WestDereham, #Wereham & #StokeFerry
Thank you to everyone who came along & my team of volunteers who helped the day run smoothly
Couple of pairs of Stonechats right out in #TheFens beyond Further Fen Farm, #Southery, balancing in the building breeze, on the banks of #TheGreatOuse.
The fisherman were out in force along the river, this sunny afternoon.

You know you are in #TheFens when the telegraph poles are wonky, there are old pumphouses all over the place among the black fields and green flood banks...and Stock Doves.
A flock of 50 Linnets is a bonus.

Love how looking at the photos when you get home can reveal a whole lot more that you missed in the field - like the caterpillar, fly & spider hiding on these willow catkins.
Hawthorn leaves well out in a sheltered spot.

Pussy willow in different moods today in #TheFens #Southery.

A pity that reservoirs eg in #Fens #Southery, don't include design features more attractive to birds besides gulls, Coot, Mallard, Tufted Duck & Great Crested Grebe. Not that I've anything against those species (sympathised with this Grebe on #GreatOuse in stiff COLD wind)! 2/5
Wow, suddenly a blast of sun strong enough to cast my shadow! It illuminated a surprise bush of corn buntings - 1 of many sights I wasn't quick enough on the draw to snap. They headed towards the millet field (S end of B1106, E of #Southery); lots of Reed Buntings there today 4/5
Had my daily ration of Woodcock; from the strip of mature woodland, Alder, Willow etc, adjacent to 10 Foot Drain, this one nearly annointed me with white splash as it made its get away, giving me a beady backward glance while facing forwards. 2/5 #OurWorldIsWorthSaving #Southery
