Space Shuttle Columbia, from YouTube video shot by Texas news station, Feb 1, 2003. Screenshots of the dashes that appear near the end of the video.
The shuttle tape shows a burst of S-shaped vapor, after which the craft seems to break into two large pieces. These continue to descend until both fireballs shrink and turn from orange to white. The first of the “dashes” comes out forcefully from the leading piece of debris (leading, visually, from the cameraman’s vantage point) and almost merges with the contrail. The other dashes appear more distinctly in their line and fairly uniform in size and interval.

A video showed up in my YouTube feed, and this phenomenon was something I had never seen in any account of the Columbia disaster. Whatever the cause, it's sad and strange.
I didn't save a link, but it's from WFAA in Dallas, Texas (why the time given is Central Time)

A stunning view of the Space Shuttle Columbia's payload bay during a 1990 mission. Moonlit astronomical telescopes (UIT, HUT, WUPPE, and BBXRT) are visible against the backdrop of the constellation Orion. The image showcases the Hubble Telescope and other instruments used for ultraviolet and x-ray observations.

The Space Shuttle Columbia ascends into a brilliant Florida sky, leaving a majestic trail of smoke and fire. Launched from Kennedy Space Center's pad 39-A in January 1996, this iconic image captures the power and grace of space travel, a testament to human ambition and exploration. A bird silhouetted against the bright plume adds a touch of natural beauty to this breathtaking scene.

After the Columbia space shuttle disintegrated in 2003, killing all 7 on board, Bush offered a speech of empathy and comfort, free of blame.

He spoke of shared grief and the astronauts' courage. 2/8
