On #ThisDayInHistory in 1919, German #socialist revolutionaries #RosaLuxemburg & #KarlLiebknecht were tortured & murdered by #Freikorps. Players in the #NovemberRevolution that toppled the kaiser, they thought the #Spartacist uprising against the #SPD a mistake (it sadly failed).

The 20th century did prove Rosa’s point. Luxemburg’s own former close associates of the German #SocialDemocrats sold her out to the conservative state-sanctioned #Freikorps paramilitary state police apparatus who murdered her and fellow #Spartacist #Liebknecht in January 1919. … (cont.)

On #ThisDayInHistory in 1919, #Polish-#German revolutionary #socialist #RosaLuxemburg was tortured and murdered by #Freikorps. A player in the #NovemberRevolution that toppled the empire, Luxemburg thought the January #Spartacist uprising against the SPD a mistake, and it was.
