A Canadian analogue to the social significance of the #StonewallUprising happened on #ThisDayInHistory in 1981. In #OperationSoap (such a tacky name), #police in #Toronto raided four gay bathhouses, arresting almost 300 people. Most charges were dropped due to the public furore.
