A rocky island sits in calm water on Lake Superior. The island is made of dark, jagged granite and has a hole in the center of it. Bright orange lichen covers the rock above the hole. Two pine trees stand on the right side of the island. Above, a partly cloudy sky is illuminated by soft sunlight streaming in from the left side of the image.
You typically see shots of this island from the other side, with the rising sun coming through the hole in the rock. I thought it looked pretty good from this angle.

7:00AM. The sun rises over smooth waters on the Chesapeake Bay, a few minutes after sunrise. Red and orange colors proliferate on the horizon, as the sun glows bright yellow in the center of the picture. Clouds reflect orange light. A piece of driftwood is visible in the right foreground.
4:28PM. A series of waves moves closers to shore on the Chesapeake Bay. The wind was driving these waves hard.
4:34PM. A wave crashes ashore behind a piece of driftwood in the foreground while other waves further out from the shore make their way in.
Same day. Same beach
This morning, the water was smooth

The sun, radiating orange, breaks above the horizon over the Chesapeake Bay. The skyline is dominated by red, transitioning to orange and then blue. A more-dense cloud on the left reflects the orange color of the sun. A contrail is also visible. There are a few light waves in the water, near shore where there is a breakwater.
I'm not sure why this didn't jump out at me earlier when I was looking through the pictures I took this morning, but I like the colors.
I took this standing on top a rock breakwater, which you can see some of on the bottom right.
