A penny next to a folded piece of yellowing paper it was kept in for over 50 years. On the paper is a small note that reads ‘Iain gave me this for luck. Dec 16th, 1971.’ I have vague memories of that evening. And my Aunt would remind me of this from time to time. I became her carer during the last few years of her life and kept her living independently. She lived until 98 years old. After she passed, I went to clear her home. 150 years of family history in there. So neat. So clean. But so much! So imagine my surprise when I was ready to sort through various drawers, opened one randomly and the first thing I found was this! We weren’t well-off, so my Aunt and Gran kept all Xmas, birthday, Easter cards, and any small token of affection given to them, some going back to the 1940s. It was the thought that was most valuable to them. She was a treasure trove of family history. I miss her so much, especially on Sundays as that was when we’d have the long call, usually around three hours but it never felt longer than 30 minutes.

To thank her, I gave her my only penny for good luck.
After she passed I cleared her house. This was the first thing I found when starting to go through drawers.

My friend @wombat37.bsky.social & I were going to have such fun with leaving these ducks around in different places, but as soon as they arrived, we realised that they were far too small to be left around where young kids might get a hold of them. So we're just left with them.
