Sheet music of the chorus and first three verses of The Carmelian Tomb
The text The Carmelian Tomb (alt text limited to 11 verses) Chorus: Oh ho, down the mountain they go! Way hey, where dark winds blow! Through stone and bone and secrets old, They chase the claw of Carmelian gold! 1: They marched through cave where shadows crept, A hundred feet where silence slept, A heavy door with runes unknown, Guarded secrets carved in stone. Chorus 2: Adrasta raised a hut of light, Then read the runes in glowing sight, They rested there and took their breath, Before they walked the halls of death. Chorus 3: A cyclops stood with bow in hand, A silent guard in tombed land, A shining coffin, cold and grand, With altars set in hexagon stand. Chorus 4: Five bowls held riddles strange and grim, Three words each with meaning dim, Till clever minds aligned the key, And made the broken whole to be. 5: A monkey’s hand within was laid, The final piece, the choice was made, The coffin groaned, the stone gave way, And death itself rose up that day! Chorus 6: A skeleton clad in ancient mail, With claw like crab both sharp and pale, It reached its hand and sought the test, To judge which soul among them blessed. 7: It whispered low, a single word, “Worthy?” was the call they heard, One failed the trial, one tried again, Till Cordy proved their rightful claim. Chorus 8: “Carmelian,” the dead one spoke, As fate and past in silence woke, The claw was claimed, the bond was sealed, Old truths half-hidden, half-revealed. 9: Then Paddy took the giant eye, A painted pearl from statue high, And Ham fixed fast with clever grin, Upon the helm he wore in din. 10: They fled the cave through fire and thorn, As burning plants were torn and torn, The mountain spat them to the sky, With danger still not drifting by. Chorus 11: Back they went where knowledge flew, But Watching Woman was not in view, Within her halls she soon returned, As wings and warning both were earned.
