Remembering the time I controlled an Arctic Tern that was older than me and that had been back and forth to the Antarctic 28 times by the time I held it briefly in my hands. #SuperSeabirdSunday

Photo of an Atlantic Puffin (Fratercula arctica) standing in some low-growing, green vegetation, facing us, with wings held open. The bird's face, chest, belly, and part of the underside of each wing, is white (apart from a brownish, muddy patch on the belly); the top of the head, the neck, and the rest of the wings are black. The short legs and webbed feet are orange. The beak, which is tall and narrow, is red near the tip and blue-grey neat the base. The chest is broad, the body short, and the wings look small and narrow. Amongst the vegetation are a few small, white flowers, possibly Sea Campion.

Grey, white and black plumages small petrel sits with a slight bulge between its legs- indicating an egg is situated in the brood patch. The rear timber walls of the space form two sides of a nesting area covered in leaves and dirt. The view is partially obscured on the lower right as it’s see through a gap in a covering that makes up a camouflaged mesh cover- normally used by surface-nesting petrels
Black-winged Petrel on egg is my Easter #SuperSeabirdSunday offering. This fellow, normally a burrowing species, has taken a liking to our camo covered surface alcoves on Phillip Island off Norfolk.

A Leach's Storm-Petrel was found at Idle Washlands, Nottinghamshire today.
Very windy making sea like conditions with the waves on the lake. The Leach's seemed right at home.

Photo of a family of Atlantic Puffins (Fratercula arctica). In the bottom left corner of the image we see part of one of the adults, who is resting with his or her head turned back so that their beak is buried between their back and and one wing. Above and to the right is the other adult, facing towards the left. At the back, and head poking up from behind the second adult, is the well-grown chick or Puffling, facing towards the right. The adult birds are white, with black crowns, necks, backs and wings; the beak of the one who is not hiding theirs, seen from the side, is triangular in shape, blue-grey edged with pale yellow at the base while the remainder is red with pale yellow, near-vertical stripes. Their eyes are black with orange rims. Their orange legs and feet cannot be seen. The Puffling also has a black crown and neck, plus a blackish patch on the side of otherwise grey-white face, extending from the base of the beak and surrounding the eye. The Puffling's beak is not as tall as an adult's (the shape is like that of a shark's fin on its side) and is dark grey in colour. His or her eye is black, with a thin white rim.
