Another belated (for my time zone) #SundayFishSketch. Here is シロギス Sillago japonica, whose slang in Taiwanese Hokkien 台語 Tâi-gí is 沙腸仔 or "sand intestines" for its slender shape and sandy substrate preferences. Tried it for the first time as sashimi recently, lovely! #TaiwanFishes #台灣魚類 🦑🐡🧪

TIL about Bregmaceros lanceolatus 尖鰭海鰗鰍—a 10 cm tiny with a wee unicorn spine and some cute chin rays. This codlet is one of 40 species described by the late taxonomist Shen Shih-Chieh 沈世傑 of National Taiwan University, according to his obituary. Another #TaiwanFishes #台灣魚類 for #SundayFishSketch 🐡🦑🧪

In Taipei you can take the MRT to see mangrove flats and mudskippers 彈塗魚.
