Yes - I think Kocowa aims to carve out a mix of older classics that aren’t available elsewhere - such as #JewelinthePalace (aka Daejanggeum) - & more recent classics like #TaleOfLadyOk
So if you’re a major kdrama fan it’s probably worth subscribing to both Kocowa & Viki
#EYDC2025 Day 10: Rewatched #TraumaCode almost immediately. In the middle of rewatching #Vincenzo and #TaxiDriver.
And I’m never not watching #IntoTheRing and. #TaleOfLadyOk. I am always dipping in for a favorite scene or episode. Might be due for a wall-to-wall rewatch of Into the Ring soon.
#EYDC2025 Day 3: Favorite actor discovered - Choo Young Woo by a mile. He did 4 new #kdramas this year, playing 6 different characters (bc he had dual roles in 2 of those). He stole every scene he was in. And now, I will watch him in anything.

#EYDC2025 - Day 2: I first saw Im Ji Yeon in #TheGlory (and was terrified of her). But this year she grabbed my attention in #TaleofLadyOk and #NiceNotToMeetYou. She can pretty much do anything — villain, hero, historical, and even slapstick comedy. Fan for life!

Too many to choose from, but I pick #TaleofLadyOk — a story about a group of people who cling together through some serious adversity. Made me a fan for life of Im Ji Yeon and Choo Young Woo.

but #TaleOfLadyOk is only on Kocowa as far as I know, which is the main reason I didn’t get to see it (I’m already oversubscribed elsewhere).
It’s technically 5, but #TaleOfLadyOk began airing in 2024, so it doesn’t count, I think?
The others are #LoveScout, #StudyGroup, #TraumaCode, and #TheDivorceInsurance.
(which isn’t to say there aren’t excellent sageuks being made in Korea - it’s also a matter of availability; eg, #TaleofLadyOk was only available on Kocowa)

Halfway through #kdrama #TaleOfLadyOk. Sageuk as its best. Good balance between scheming, friendship, lighter moments (idol ml)+serious like prejudices against people who doesn't fit in category "normal", slavery. I❤️the characterisation of FL: full faith in good but ready to fight for family/friends

At 75 to 90 minutes each episode on average, #TaleOfLadyOk is a marathon with 16 episodes.
But damn if it isn't a compelling watch though. Kinda nice to have a Joseon drama that's not confined with just the palace intrigues.

Finally I can differentiate between the Joseon classes speech and phrase patterns now.
It is surprising how much you pick up just by watching, especially if you're already fluent in Mandarin or Japanese.

It really is Choo Young Woo's break out year. He was fantastic in both #TaleofLadyOk (in dual roles!) and in #TraumaCode:HerosonCall.

Confession: I'm having a hard time watching #TaleofLadyOk because I'm STILL having difficulties separating Lim Ji Yeon from her character on the Glory. SHE DID TOO GOOD A JOB MAKING ME HATE HER!!! 😭
But she's probably very nice irl and obviously v. talented so I'm gonna push thru, loool.
