Ein Schild an einem Zoo-Gehege, auf dem eine Tierart namens Binturong (Arctictis binturong) beschrieben wird: Native to South and South East Asia, binturongs have been described as having a face like a cat and a body like a bear but they are related to neither of these animals. They are renowned for the distinctive smell that they use to indicate territory and readiness to breed. Some describe it as a popcorn aroma. Their bushy tail ist used for balance and support, spending most of their time wandering tree tops to find their food. Classified as carnivores, fruits and leaves make up most of their diet.

A koala is hanging onto the trunk of a tree amongst a bushel of leaves strapped to it. A eucalyptus leaf is hanging out of his mouth, and his face looks like he's been having a rough day.
A meerkat stands upright on a sandy surface. He stands watch, looking for the enemy that will never come.
A capybara stands at the edge of the water. He peers at his reflection before taking a sip and ponders whether he should go for a swim (he did).
A brush-tailed rock-wallaby is perched atop some rocks (who could have guessed). He looks over his shoulder, back towards the camera, as though he is a trained model.

WAZA大会の会場となった動物園内施設
大きな会議場のみならず保全の研究室等が配置されています
とくに感動したのは学校生徒への保全教育などに使われる屋内外付属施設
砂漠や熱帯雨林を再現し目の前で動物を観察しながら環境教育ができるように工夫されていました

私は新しくオープンした両生爬虫類館のバックヤードツアーに参加
素晴らしい飼育展示と保全活動の内容でした
